Broadway Limited 5078 HO Scale N&W Class A 2-6-6-4 Steam Loco & Tender #1218 EX/Box
Here is a Broadway Limited 5078 HO Scale N&W Class A 2-6-6-4 Steam Loco & Tender #1218. This locomotive features plastic construction, metal wheels, plastic couplers & a powerful motor. Please see my pictures for additional features.
Introduced in the early 20th century, the 2-6-6-4 were unveiled as part of the "Super Steam Power" models due to their booster equipped trailing trucks, and larger fireboxes. The 2-6-6-4 engines were built for the Pittsburgh and Virginia Rail Road, and were primarily mountain luggers. Not known for speed, but rather their power, the 2-6-6-4 could amass up to 5,000 draw-bar horse-power at speeds of up to 45mph. Going out of commission in 1959 at the start of dieselization, the 2-6-6-4 would eventually be oved to a preservation status with some on display today at rail-road museums in North America!
