Lionel 1666 Vintage O 2-6-2 Steam Locomotive & 1689W Tender VG
Here is a Lionel 1666 Vintage O 2-6-2 Die-Cast Steam Locomotive #1666. The 1666 locomotive has the following standard features: a 2-6-2 wheel arrangement with a black-painted, die-cast boiler, full complement of detailed driving wheel hardware, nickel-rimmed spoked drive wheels, die-cast trailing truck, three-position E-unit, headlight, and an ornamental bell and decorative whistle. The 1666 does not have a smoke unit. Includes a Lionel 1689W Tender.
Brought onto the scene in the late 19th century and continuing use into the early 20th century, the 2-6-2 was a durable little model with some even surviving through the first World War seeing continued use in smaller capacities. These models were used for a variety of purposes from hauling coal loads to pulling smaller passenger cars. The North American model soon became known as the "Prairie" model and would quickly become a favorite in rail-yards around the world!
