Lionel 225E Vintage O 2-6-2 Die-Cast Steam Locomotive

Here is a Lionel 225E Vintage O 2-6-2 Die-Cast Steam Locomotive. The 225E was a mainstay of Lionel‘s line in the late 1930s and early 40s. One of the first of Lionel‘s die cast steamers, the 225E mold was used to make the 675/2025 steam engines of the Postwar era. This locomotive features a motor, reverse unit and has an illuminated interior.

Brought onto the scene in the late 19th century and continuing use into the early 20th century, the 2-6-2 was a durable little model with some even surviving through the first World War seeing continued use in smaller capacities. These models were used for a variety of purposes from hauling coal loads to pulling smaller passenger cars. The North American model soon became known as the "Prairie" model and would quickly become a favorite in rail-yards around the world!

There is heavy pitting on the cab and other spots on the shell. The horn is missing. This car has heavy scratches and paint loss all throughout the shell and frame. There is rust on various metal pieces and screw. A corner of the cab is bent. The wheels show average run-time. The item shows signs of previous heavy use and storage.
