Lionel 45 Vintage O Gauge Automatic Gateman EX/Box

Here is a Lionel 45 Vintage O Gauge Automatic Gateman. The Lionel 45 Automatic Gateman was available from 1935 to 1942 and continued for a time into postwar. It was sold as the 45 with a standard gauge isolated outside-rail track section, as the O45 with an O-gauge isolated outside-rail track section, and as the 45N with a 41 weight- activated contactor. The green metal base is 7" wide by 5 3/4" in width. The white formed sheet metal shack is 4" high. The shack has a red roof and door. A formed sheet metal post with a finial cap holds a crossbuck sign. A plastic man emerges from the shack with a red lantern that is illuminated with a red light in the base.

This item has been graded per TCA standards C-7: Excellent based on visual appearance. This vintage item is in overall excellent condition. There are some nicks and scratches along the surfaces. There is a little rust where the pieces join together. The gateman has missing paint and needs to be repainted. The overall appearance of this item may be improved with a gentle and thorough cleaning. The instruction manual is included. The original box is included.
