Lionel 6-17740 O Alaska Round-Roof Boxcar #22781 LN/Box

Lionel 6-17740 O Alaska Round-Roof Boxcar #22781 LN/Box

This is a Lionel 6-17740 O Alaska Round-Roof Boxcar. NEWLY TOOLED ROUND-ROOF BOXCARS. In the early 1930s, Pennsylvania developed a new round roof style of boxcar that allowed for a taller 10’ inner height and increased overall loading volume. The largest number of them were class X31A boxcars, identified most clearly by a distinctive non-flush inset where the car sides met the rounded roof.

By 1937, the efficient round roof design of PRR was adopted by the ARA and used on other railroads. The newly-tooled, 1:48 scale boxcar is accurately made to match the original Pennsylvania X31A design. A great boxcar for both steam and diesel eras,

Its key features are:
Die-cast metal sprung trucks and operating couplers
Hidden uncoupling tabs
Die-cast metal frame
Separately applied metal underframe details
Opening doors

Dimensions: Length: Approx. 11 ¼”
RailLine: Alaska
Minimum Curve: O-31
