This powerful 1600-HP Alco workhorse of the early 1950s was popular with railroads because of its versatility. The Western Mayland #189 was primarily assigned to freight runs while some of its WM brothers operated local passenger service. The Boston & Maine #1538, decorated in its original Minuteman scheme, was used primarily as a road switcher. Features Dual Vertical Motors, Operating Headlight, Cab Light, Operating Smoke Unit, Illuminated Number Boards, Engineer Figure, Etched Metal Roof Screens, Metal Chassis & Handrails, Die Cast Fuel Tank, Brakewheel & Steps, Accurately Detailed Die Cast Trucks & Pilot, Front & Rear Electrocouplers. It measures 14.5 inches long and operates on an O-31 minimum curve.

This item has been graded per TCA standards C-7: Excellent based on visual appearance. The overall appearance of this item may be improved with a gentle and thorough cleaning. There are light nicks and scratches on the surface of the shell and chassis. Some of the trim pieces are missing from this unit. The wheels show heavy run-time. The original box is included.
