Lionel 6822 Vintage O Night Crew Searchlight Car--Black Superstructure VG
This is a Lionel 6822 Night Crew Operating Searchlight Car from 1961-69. This is the version with a black superstructure. The 6822 was a completely new searchlight car designed by Lionel. Prior to the 6822, all Lionel searchlight cars used a die-cast depressed center style flatcar. This new style allowed Lionel to produce a searchlight car using an existing flatcar mold while at the same time reduce the manufacturing time and cost. This searchlight car features a rotating searchlight, plastic trucks, operating knuckle couplers, metal wheels and axles.
