Mantua 348-023 HO Scale C&O 2-8-2 Mikado Steam Locomotive & Tender #1210 EX/Box
Here is a Mantua 348-023 HO Scale C&O 2-8-2 Mikado Steam Locomotive & Tender #1210. The locomotive features a metal construction with a motor and metal wheels. The tender features a plastic construction with plastic trucks, metal and plastic wheels, and horn hook couplers. Please see my pictures for additional features.
Introduced at the turn of the 20th century, the 2-8-2 was an innovator breaking from the traditional manufacturing of locomotives, and featuring a larger firebox paving the way for greater speeds at a higher rate of power! Before we knew it, the 2-8-2 also known as the "Mikado" found itself in rail yards around the world from the United States to the Congo hauling freight from stop to stop. The Mikado would undergo a temporary name change after the Pearl Harbor bombing in 1941 shortly going by the McArthur, before eventually going back to the Mikado name after WW2.
This item has been graded per TCA standards C-7: Excellent based on visual appearance. The locomotive did not run and is being sold As-Is. The locomotive and tender show scratches and spots of paint loss throughout various sections of the shell and chassis. The instruction manual is not included. The original box is included.
