First introduced in the early 20th century, the 4-8-4 took rail yards by storm primarily hauling coal and other forms of freight across state lines in the US and railways in various other countries. While later models would improve on the 4-8-4's limitation, this locomotive still made its place in history as a pioneer of the 20th-century railroad industry, and is featured in some museums today as a testament to how far the industry has truly come!
This item has been graded per TCA standards C-7: Excellent based on visual appearance. The previous owner has retro fitted this engine with a can motor. Our repair team has identified this unit as a good candidate for DCC conversion. The locomotive's decorative bell is broken off and missing. The mount for the bell is mangled and broken. The locomotive and tender show scratches and spots of paint loss throughout various sections of the shell and chassis. The locomotive and tender show rust throughout various sections of the chassis and trucks. This item has been inspected by our repair shop.
