Lionel 224E Vintage O Die-Cast 2-6-2 Steam Locomotive & Tender 2224W VG
Here is a Lionel 224E Vintage O Die-Cast 2-6-2 Steam Locomotive & Tender 2224W. It features a die-cast boiler, all-metal construction, 3-position E-unit, and an operating headlight. It was not manufactured with a smoke unit. The tender features metal wheels and axles, box coupler, whistle. Please see my pictures for additional features.
Brought onto the scene in the late 19th century and continuing use into the early 20th century, the 2-6-2 was a durable little model with some even surviving through the first World War seeing continued use in smaller capacities. These models were used for a variety of purposes from hauling coal loads to pulling smaller passenger cars. The North American model soon became known as the "Prairie" model and would quickly become a favorite in rail-yards around the world!
